Sovereign Bank opened a new location at 37-10 Broadway in Long Island City, on Thursday, October 5. The location was the final step in the bank's transition of branches of the Independence Community Bank to Sovereign following their merger.

The bank also presented the Thalia Theatre with a $7,500 grant for theatre programs.
