Chancellor Klein in Bayside

On hand for the most recent Community District Education Council 26 meeting on Thursday, February 8 were (left to right) Superintendent of School District 26 Anita Saunders, New York City Public Schools Chancellor Joel Klein, State Senator Frank Padavan, and New York City Public Schools Regional Superintendent Judith Chin. Klein attended the meeting, held at M.S. 74 in Bayside, to answer education-related questions from community members, and local parents. Klein spoke about the city’s new plan to divide schools into one of three categories with varying levels of supervision from the school system and involvement from non-profit groups. Several parents also complained about the recent school bus re-routing plan, and Klein again apologized and said that he believed all of the difficulties with the new system would be worked out soon.
