Savini allegedly sideswiped Melendez's car, pushing it into Melendez and the passenger, then fled the scene without checking on the condition of the two victims, the DA said. A third passenger in Melendez's car was not hurt, police said. Savini returned to the scene two hours later and surrendered to police, the DA's office said. Savini was charged with leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it, and was due in court Feb. 21, the DA's office said. Upon investigation, police discovered that Savini does have a valid New Hampshire driver's license, that he was not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and that he was not speeding, DA Brown said.Reach reporter Alex Christodoulides by e-mail at news@timesledger.com or by phone at 718-229-0300, Ext. 155.
