For the first time in its 76-year history, the Greek Independence Day Parade was postponed because of the violent storm on Sunday, April 15, according to parade organizers, who cited a “paramount interest for public safety.”
The parade, scheduled to be the first ever televised, will be held on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. and will follow the traditional route up Fifth Avenue, from 61st to 79th Street.
Greek Independence Day is observed on March 24 and the parade is usually conducted on the closest Sunday to that date, unless it falls on Greek Orthodox Holy Week, as it did this year.
