Hands-on learning at St. Helen School

St. Helen School’s pre-kindergarten students learned the life cycle of butterflies recently. Their teacher, Mrs. Downing, helped them create a home in anticipation of the emerging butterflies. The children used magnifying glasses to observe the chrysalis more closely and a microscope to identify parts of the butterfly. The class also read books, created charts and viewed videos to gain a better understanding of the process. The children will release their butterflies at the end of the Lenten season.
