DAC to send pair to flag football nationals

The DePhillips Athletic Club Panthers are going back to the NFL Tournament of Champions.
This time, they are fielding two teams in separate age groups. The two Whitestone-based flag football teams will represent DAC this November in Orlando, Florida at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in the 12-14-year-old and 9-11-year-old divisions after they each won the New York Jets Regional at Hofstra University recently.
The 12-14 DAC Panthers, the back-to-back 9-11 national champions who took part in the NFL Flag Football World Championships in Cologne, Germany in August of 2006, are no strangers to such success.
Since then, their core - Yianni Gavalas, Eddie Roscigno, Anthony Libroia, Nicholas Athanasopoulos and Brian Kruger - have grown and improved. They are even better now with the additions of Tommy Botsaris, Chris Dorgler, Allessandro Troia, Leondre Simmon and Pablo Valdes.
The younger team, coached by Xavier Montes, is comprised of Blaise O’Boyle, Santiago Agosti, David Montes, Jack Kimmel, Michael Rodriguez, Genki Yamaguchi, Alec Zimmern, Mark Holuka, Stephan Pallos and Alexa Libroia, the first-ever female Panther.
