Parkway boasts new CT scanner

The New Parkway Hospital is the only hospital in Queens equipped with an Aquilion 64-Slice CT Scanner, which is used for early detection of cardiac disease.
The scanner is built on a 64-row Quantum Detector. It features volumetric imaging capabilities, advanced software applications, 64 detector channels, 3-D cone beam algorithms and volume reconstruction.
The Aquilion 64-Slice CT Scanner “is considered the most advanced diagnostic tool available for early detection of cardiac disease. It is non-invasive and covered by most insurance for those patients who have risk factors for heart disease.”
Among the heart disease risk factors are lifestyle, habits, stress levels and family history. Other contributors are smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes and lack of physical activity.
