In the girls minor division, Bonnie Brite Cleaners defeated Five Guys Burgers, 30-26, as Mackenzie Martin scored eight points, Allison Vassallo contributed with four points, and three steals. Five Guys came out strong in the second half, out-scoring Bonnie Brite, 12-8, but were unable to hold on. They were lead by Sofia Recupero and Taylor Martin. Five Guys kept it close by playing outstanding defense and were led by Anna Rose Petinos and Mikayla Camilleri. Great shooting by Sabrina Rievera sealed the victory for Bonnie Brite down the stretch.
MCF Associates pulled out their first victory of the season over Lee’s Jewel Box, 45-33, in the boys major division. For MCF, Nicholas Jaramillo scored 18 points and dominated the boards with help from Stephen Mirtsopoulos; the two combined for 17 rebounds. James Gorga and Amos Pan kept the defensive pressure on Lee’s to help lead MCF to victory. For Lee’s Jewel Box, Christopher Owen scored 11 points and Dion Vangelatos contributed with nine. In other action, Cascarinos outscored Legaz-Keller Williams Realty, 60 to 46. Cascarinos was led by Billy Falidis, Jason Duque and Matt Malo along with great outside shooting by John Sideris.
B&M Auto edged out Cascarinos 28-25, in a close girls senior division matchup. B&M had the lead into the fourth quarter until Samantha McNamara hit her second 3-pointer for Cascarinos to tie the game. Katie McGrory had eight points and Jessica Piccolino also had eight, including a steal in the final seconds to put B&M up by three. In the last quarter Corinne Lippert (three points) and Jenna Palazollo played outstanding defense against Nicole Naposki of Cascarinos, who led all scorers with 16 points. Britany Naposki had a strong game under the boards. Christa LiTrenta contributed with seven points and Gianna DiCamillo added a basket for B&M Auto.
In the boys minor division, DePhillips topped Great Whitestone Taxpayers, 45-40; Memorial Park fell to TM & T Tire, 34-28; and North Fork Bank topped Whitestone Hardware, 26-17. Also, in the boys bantam division, Equinox Protection beat FHM Mortgage, 23-21, and Harpell Chemists beat Pizza Chef, 35-31.
