Queens Museum of Art honored

The Queens Museum of Art has been named the Cultural Organization of the Month for March by NYC & Company.
“Step into the Queens Museum of Art and you can be transported to the far corners of the world or the corners of all five boroughs,” said Barbara Lorber, the Executive Vice President of the NYC & Company Foundation. “From exhibits on Persian art and Tiffany glass to the magnificent 9,335-square-foot model of every block and building throughout the city, the Queens Museum of Art will captivate the imagination of every visitor.”
Throughout March, visitors who mention “Cultural Organization of the Month” can get free admission for two people. They will also receive a 10 percent discount for the museum shop. One of the main attractions at the Queens Museum of Art is the New York City Panorama.
There will be several special events taking place at the museum during March. “First Sundays for Families” from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 will highlight the Tiffany glass collection while presenting activities from that time period, including a tea party and formal dance workshop.
On Saturday, March 15, the third annual Persian Arts Festival will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be an exhibition, performances and closing reception.
Queens Artists Connections, a free forum for artists, will take place on Saturday, March 22 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The exhibition “New York State of Mind” will conclude on Sunday, March 23.

The Queens Museum of Art is located in the New York City Building in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
