LIRR skeleton declared a homicide

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the skeletal remains of a man, which were found by a Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) track worker last September.
The New York City Medical Examiner’s (ME) office has determined that the man, described as “Asian, between 35 and 50-years-old, between five foot-three inches and five foot-seven inches tall” had been stabbed several times in the torso.
The discovery, on the afternoon of Thursday, September 20, had first been treated as a missing person case, as was reported in the September 27th edition of The Queens Courier.
Now it is a homicide case and according to a police statement, “the investigation continues.”
The body was discovered within the confines of the 109th Precinct, on the LIRR right-of-way near Northern Boulevard and 160th Street in Flushing. The discovery came as workers were clearing brush along the tracks.
The ME believes that it had been there for between two and eight years.
According to police the victim was dressed in a black Tommy Hilfiger t-shirt with the name “Tommy” across the front, dark colored jeans, size 32×30, leopard print briefs and brown and green work boots.
Anyone recognizing the artist’s sketch based on the remains, or with information about this homicide is asked to call the Crime Stoppers Hot Line at 1-800-577 TIPS (8477). All information will be kept confidential.
