Astoria Federal contest winner

Forest Hills High School student Anton Alenychev was one of 12 award winners in the photo contest of Astoria Federal Savings. He was selected for his original photo.
Each winner was awarded $250 on Monday, July 7. The teacher of each winner received $100 for classroom use.
This year’s contest theme was “People in Action” - participants between the ages of 13 and 19 submitted photographs of people engaged in interesting physical or creative activities such as dancing, painting, or working at a desk.
Organizing this event helps Federal Savings to stay involved in the community, said Brian Edwards, the bank’s senior vice president.
Also, “This contest is a great way for young adults in our neighborhoods to express themselves in a creative way,” Edwards said. “We’re committed to supporting education at every age level.”
