Parker Jewish holds Golf Classic

Parker Jewish Institute Foundation’s 16th annual Golf Classic recently honored Judy and Mike Musiker of Musiker Discovery Programs, Inc., at the Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury.
As an independent, non-profit facility, Parker’s leadership in-patient and resident care, teaching, research and community health programs not only depend upon dedicated professionals, but also generous individuals like Judy and Mike Musiker.
Peter Seideman, Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees and Event Chairman, presented the honorees with their award after describing his mother’s experiences at Parker and how vital their work is for everyone, including his very own family.
In the late 1950s, the Musikers, who both loved working with children, spent the summers of their early-married years as head counselors at Camp Lenalenapee in upstate New York. In short order, they bought their own camp in the Catskills, Camp Kewanee, which rapidly became one of the preeminent co-ed sleep away camps in the east.
Mike progressed from teacher and coach to become one of the top administrators in the prestigious Manhasset school system.
In 1965, Musiker Student Tours was born. Now, the company headed by their sons, Bobby and Jimmy, is a world leader in student travel and educational enrichment programs, with participants from virtually every state in the U.S. and more than 40 countries worldwide. Generations have benefited from their advocacy and innovations.
An independent 527-bed, not-for-profit institution located in New Hyde Park, Parker Jewish offers sub-acute care/short term rehabilitation, long-term care, and community health programs, including adult day health care, Alzheimer’s day care, home health care and hospice programs.
