MANHATTAN — An Astoria woman died early Saturday after she and a friend tried to cross a busy street, police said.
At 3:23 a.m., Stephanie Dees, 26, and Ann Sullivan, 26, of Albany, were crossing East 14th Street near First Avenue when they were hit by a yellow cab traveling westbound, police said.
The impact threw the women into oncoming traffic, where they were hit by a second yellow cab traveling in the opposite direction, police said.
Dees was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Sullivan was taken to Beth Israel Hospital where she died two hours later, police said.
Both drivers remained at the scene, and police do not suspect any criminality.
