Dear Readers:

When you consider that women have had the right to vote for less than a century, we really have come a long way! Still, there are some women among us who, from time to time, need to be reminded that we are free to express ourselves in all matters of our lives from casting ballots to lasting beauty.

Enter Virginia Madsen. The Oscar-nominated actress set out to turn her life around a decade ago. Through self expression, she found success and hasn’t looked back. Now she’s on a mission to encourage women to express themselves freely whether it’s a decision to fight the aging process with a cosmetic treatment or to get out and vote, especially in this exciting election year.

This women’s health issue also includes several features dealing with important and interesting topics from breast cancer awareness to core fitness and from plastic surgery to overcoming the seven most common aging myths.

Keeping with that theme, our department pages are filled with additional women’s health information, as well as expanded beauty coverage and up-to-the-minute fitness and nutrition news on products and services that can simplify and improve your life. As always, your spiritual, coping and legal needs are addressed as well.

We hope this issue of HealthWise not only helps you look good and feel good, but also motivates you to express yourself.

In Health and Happiness,
