Meet Richmond Hill’s
‘New Yorker of the Week’

Caroline Eckert was the “New Yorker of the Week” on NY 1 on May 15.
Eckert, who is in her 70s, has been sweeping the streets – and battling litter along Jamaica Avenue — for nearly 50 years.
Every weekday she sweeps up the litter and debris along the Avenue, keeping Richmond Hill clean. This is a job that she took upon herself and has received numerous commendations for over the years, including citations of appreciation from Assemblymember Anthony Seminerio and from Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley.
Being chosen to be New Yorker of the week is Caroline’s proudest moment, she said.
