Queens Council on the Arts (QCA) will begin holding informational sessions in July for artists and organizations interested in applying for 2010 grants.
The Queens Community Arts Fund (QCAF), which is administered by QCA, gave out grants totaling $232,400 for 2009. They were awarded to 18 individual artists and 42 organizations.
According to QCA, these grants are given to “individual artists as well as non-profit organizations for creating arts and cultural programming in the borough of Queens.”
All first-time grant applicants must attend an information session. In addition, those who have applied before but have not done so within the last two years must also attend one.
The first information session for organizations will be held on Tuesday, July 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crossing Art, which is located in Queens Crossing, at 136-20 38th Avenue, in Flushing.
Also, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, there will be a session for individual artists at the Greater Astoria Historical Society, which is located on the fourth floor of the Quinn Building at 35-20 Broadway in Long Island City.
The application deadlines for the QCAF grants will be Thursday, September 24 for organizations and Thursday, October 8 for individual artists.
More informational sessions will be held in August and September.
