Naple, A Piece of Italy and a Great Pizza

The center of attention at Naple is their wood-burning brick oven. Executive Chef Michael Zampitelli is proud of his oven that makes his a thin, crispy, crunchy pizza.

I’m a “thin crust lover” of pizza and Naple has got it done to perfection. The atmosphere is charming and the attentive staff serving great food makes this new place a triple winner!

The attractive corner location on 29th Avenue and Francis Lewis Boulevard has been home to a variety of clubs, bars and bistros. Based on the bustling scene of families and couples, both mature and younger, the owner has hit the mark! Most of the tables were taken and the place was buzzing when we visited.

Although the great pizza is the main attraction, there is a full menu of many of my favorite Italian dishes.

We sampled both menus and began with a plentiful fresh seafood salad made with large shrimp, octopus, calamari and garden vegetables. Stu had a plentiful plate of creamy buffalo mozzarella cheese on top of sliced Parma prosciutto and deep-red juicy tomatoes.

We also tasted the Quattro Stagioni ravioli, meaning four seasons, in a rich, mouthwatering red cream sauce. The wide selection of veal, chicken and fish dishes can be had francese, parmigiana or grilled (my personal favorite).

I was very impressed with the Capricciosa made with thick tasty tomato sauce, mushrooms, Parma ham, artichoke hearts and mozzarella cheese. I wish we had been a larger group so I could have sampled more offerings.

But of course we also had one of their 10 different pizzas. Zampitelli is proud of the fact that his ovens are made by Italian masters and the quality was found in the pizzas.

They offer a wide selection of wines from Italy that is varied and fairly priced.

Naple is here to stay and a welcome addition to the developing restaurant row on Francis Lewis Boulevard.

They are open for lunch – with a 15 percent discount – and dinner seven days a week. Try it, you’ll love it.
