KEW GARDENS — A Brooklyn high school teacher pleaded guilty Monday in Queens Criminal Court to first-degree attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor after allegedly attempting to meet a person he met online, who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, for sex, the Queens district attorney’s office announced Tuesday.
The “victim” was actually an undercover NYPD Vice Enforcement Division detective.
Alexander Kravitz, 27, a teacher at William E. Grady Vocational High School in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, is expected to be sentenced Feb. 24 to 90 days in jail and five years’ probation, according to the DA. He will be forced to surrender his state teaching credentials, forfeit his computer and register as a sex offender.
The detective went undercover as a 14-year-old girl from Queens between Nov. 13, 2008, and Jan. 7, 2009, during which time he received numerous instant messages from Kravitz, who used the screen name evrydaygurls, the DA said. Kravitz’s messages were sexual and at least twice included live video of him masturbating, according to the DA.
He was arrested upon arriving at a pre-arranged Queens location and identifying himself to a female undercover police officer posing as the 14-year-old girl for a sexual encounter, the DA said.
