Van Bramer Takes on MTA Over Bus Service

Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer has written a letter to the New York City Transit department complaining about the proposed cuts to the B24 bus service.

In January, the MTA announced that the B24, which runs through Sunnyside, Greenpoint and Williamsburg is likely to be cut on weekends and less service would be provided during the work week.

The bus route runs along Greenpoint, Meeker and Metropolitan avenues.

In a letter to Thomas Prendergast, the president of the New York City Transit, Van Bramer said “the proposed B24 reduction in conjunction with reduced services on the No. 7 Train and G train will make travel between Queens and Brooklyn even more difficult for my constituents who rely on the B24 to go between Boroughs.”

“This service cut will severely harm small businesses on Greenpoint Avenue as well as reduce an important service for Sunnyside’s elderly and disabled residents.”
