The recycling facilities at the revamped Associated supermarket (corner of 44 Street and Greenpoint Ave.) appears to attract hoards of bottle and can collectors. Many wait in long lines for their turn to unload large loads of cans, plastics and glass.
One recycler said the facility is attractive since it has two plastic machines, two glass machines and one can machine. “It’s all here,” a man said, in broken English.
While there have been some complaints from readers about the machines and some of the recyclers, it is worth noting that Associated closes the facility each night at 8:00 pm and keeps a close watch over the facility.
