On a brilliant Saturday morning, May 1, hundreds of special athletes from all over Queens gathered at Victory Field in Glendale to compete in the Special Olympic Games.
In addition to the athletes, hundreds of volunteers, family members and spectators were on hand for the day, to cheer these special Olympians as they competed for medals in various track and field events and adaptive skill games.
Included in the volunteers assisting this day was a delegation from Local 3 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ Motorcycle Club.
State Senator Frank Padavan helped kick-off the activities at the opening ceremony and rooted for the team he sponsors, Padavan’s Panthers.
