City Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. visited the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Astoria to hand out books to children. Vallone was able to secure a donation of more than 3,000 books for the club.
He also met with Board President Sue Robotti and new Executive Director Terry Hughes for a tour of the renovated facility, including a newly refurbished gymnasium. Vallone has been a crucial supporter of the club, which was founded by his grandfather, Judge Charles J. Vallone, and he gives more than $200,000 of discretionary funding each year.
