He’s one of the go-to guys to head criminals off at the pass.
Police Officer Brian Salmon, 46, is joining Officer Paul Ciccarello as the 106th Precinct’s Crime Prevention Officers.
Salmon, of Lynbrook, Long Island, has been with the force for 22 years. He began on patrol, then joined a grand larceny auto unit before becoming a member of the anti-crime unit.
He worked midnights for 16 years before joining community policing, a conditions unit – and now crime prevention.
“I always wanted to be a police officer,” said the father of three, who said his biggest challenge is “getting information out to the public.”
“I hope they take our advice [on how to prevent crimes],” he said.
And what is his best tip for doing so?
“Be aware of your surroundings, put away ladders, look around when exiting your car.”
In other words, “be alert.”
Salmon and Ciccarello want you to know that the precinct offers several free programs to keep you, your family, home and car safe.
For example, there is the free residential and commercial survey that “helps people with what to do so they are not victimized again;” VIN etching and Operation Combat Auto Theft; and hand-outs on patterns within the command.
To learn more about these programs, call Salmon or Ciccarello at 718-845-2223.
