As the new school year begins, the city public school teachers are still working under the old contract, which expired last year, on October 31. To date, we still do not have a new contract in place.
Why can’t the Mayor and the Chancellor work harder with our union president Michael Mulgrew to reach a fair and just contract? We teachers work very hard to formulate and drive classroom instruction under very difficult conditions and we certainly deserve a raise that we can live on.
