245 join Kiwanis K Kids and Builders Club

On Wednesday, November 3, P.S. 207 in Howard Beach hosted its annual induction ceremony for the 245 newest members of the school’s Kiwanis K Kids (grades four and five) and Builders Club (grades six to eight).

Each received certificates from the Ozone Park Kiwanis and president Jonah Cohen.

“The Kiwanis is there for the kids,” said Cohen. “They are our priority.”

Club Moderators Nina DeBlasio and Maria Lipschutz have the students doing different projects, such as collecting food for City Harvest and making holiday cards, with a “thank you” holiday lunch at Carosello.

Their newest project is a campaign to stop bullying and promote tolerance.

Each day, said DeBlasio, a different student’s positive quote is read over the PA system.

“We’re always trying to promote positivity,” said DeBlasio. “It’s a nice club, with a lot of children who participate.”
