Sunnysiders: Who represents you?

Sunnyside has been carved up into tiny bits on the electoral map and many residents who will go out to vote on Tuesday might be in for a surprise as to which US Congressional candidates they see listed on the ballot.

Sunnyside is an electoral jigsaw puzzle. The neighborhood is split into three congressional districts and two assembly districts.

Congressional District 14

This district starts at 41^st and goes west toward Manhattan on the northern side of Queens Blvd. On the southern side of Queens Blvd, the district begins at 36th Street and goes west toward Manhattan.

However, there are a number of other Sunnyside blocks that have been tossed into the district. They include 39^th Place to 41^st Street (between Queens Blvd and 47^th Ave.)

2)      Ryan Brumberg (R)

Congressional District 7

This district covers the northern side of Queens Blvd. from 41^st going east toward Woodside. However, there are exceptions. For instance, the district covers 41^st to 43^rd Streets on the southern side of Queens Blvd. (Btw. Queens Blvd and Greenpoint Ave).

Congressional District 12

This district covers the southern side of Queens Blvd, with the exception of 39^th Place through to 43^rdStreet (for those blocks between Queens Blvd. through Greenpoint Ave).

Assembly District 37

This district covers most of Sunnyside up to 49^th Street. There are some exceptions. For instance, between 40^th Street to 43^rd Street (between 43^rdAve and Skillman) – this is part of Assembly District 30.

2) John K. Wilson (R)

Assembly District 30

East of 49^th Street. There are one or two minor exceptions.
