On Friday, December 31, police responded to the corner of Merrick Boulevard and 109th Avenue for a 9-1-1 call of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Jamal West shot numerous times in the back. EMS also responded to the scene and pronounced him dead. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
