The talented contestants in the Miss Howard Beach Pageant may soon go from local stars to small screen celebrities.
Stay with The Courier as we introduce you to these well-rounded girls between the ages of four and 24 from the neighborhood.
Ashley Kern has won numerous trophies, medals and ribbons while attending TKO Dance Academy in Howard Beach. She has been dancing and competing at TKO for three years.
1. Why do you want to be Miss Howard Beach?
I would like to be Miss Howard Beach because I can represent the people of Howard Beach. I’m happy that I live in Howard Beach.
2. How do you give back to your community?
I would like to do something like join “Friends for a Change,” which I saw on the Disney Channel. It helps not only Howard Beach, but the whole world by saving the environment and caring for all the animals. I constantly tell my mommy and daddy that we have to clean up the world so it can last forever.
3. What’s your favorite subject in school?
I like reading, especially when I am in the library, and I love playing on the computer.
4. What is your talent?
I love to dance. I dance for TKO Academy. I go to competitions with TKO to show everyone “what we got.” I also like to draw.
