RICHMOND HILL — An 18-year-old man has been charged with bribery after allegedly offering $10,000 to police officers to release him after he was arrested on an unrelated offense, according to the New York Post.
Nestor Rodriguez had been detained for the unrelated charge on March 30 and was taken to the 102nd Precinct station house in Richmond Hill at about 3:30 p.m., the Post reported.
While at the station, he allegedly told police he would give them $10,000 cash if they would set him free, according to the Post, and he allegedly repeated the offer to a supervisor.
“This is it: The money might be a little tight, but I can get you some electronics,” Rodriguez said, according to a police source in the Post. “Four watches valued at $2,300 and two Sony televisions, fully equipped, and I will give you $1,000.”
Police declined the offer, according to the Post, and he was promptly arrested on a bribery charge.
