Now the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation, my Congressmember calls his lies a mistake. He also claimed he was deeply ashamed of his terrible judgment. This isn’t golf, there’s no mulligan here, Mr. Weiner.
Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or independent like me, as constituents of his district, we must demand he resign.
For too long New York politicians have viewed us as their road to political eternity no matter what they do. Our city, state and federal elected officials routinely let us down by engaging in either criminal activity or poor judgment of another nature.
They continue in their arrogance and hubris when caught by staying in office. Like Republican Chris Lee who resigned under similar circumstances, Lee left almost immediately, Weiner must go.
He can kick, cry and scream but he must resign. To do otherwise will continue the culture of corruption our governor now tries to arrest.
