Mets host children’s clinic

The pros showed some kids from Queens how it’s done on the diamond, as the Mets hosted a clinic for children at Citi Field.
Sponsored by Verizon, the clinic gave 60 youngsters from three Queens organizations the chance to learn baseball batting from Mets’ players Lucas Duda, Pedro Beato and bullpen coach Jon Debus. The kids, aged 7 to 12 years old, came from the Chinese-American Planning Council in Flushing, the Flushing YMCA and the Rego Park-based Queens Community House.
The kids were accompanied by their parents or guardians and received tips and instructions on hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. Following the clinic, the kids were treated to a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, which the Mets lost 8-5.
