Anti Wall Street/Obama Protesters (Sunnyside Post)
Oct. 22, 2011 By Christian Murray
Two men set up tables outside the Sunnyside Post office Saturday and distributed literature denouncing President Barack Obama and Wall Street.
The men, who represented the LaRouche movement, argued that taxpayer funds shouldn’t be spent bailing out Wall Street and advocated for the return of the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act, which separated investment banks from depository institutions. The men also opposed the Obama administration for sanctioning a drone attack that killed Anwar al-Awlaki, a senior al-Qaida member who was born in the US.
Their presence received a mixed reaction. One man was curious and wanted to learn more. Meanwhile, another woman said to the men as she entered the post office: “I can’t mail a letter anymore without having to listen to this bull s..t.”
