‘Monsters & Heroes’

Thursday, December 1 at 4 p.m. Ridgewood Library: Monsters and Heroes: A Comic Book Workshop; In this three-week program, participants will learn about monsters and heroes from all over the world and why they are so important. Pro cartoonist Ivan Velez will help students create their own creatures and stories in comic book style. All materials will be provided; call 718-821-4770.

1:15 p.m. Howard Beach Senior Center: Classic Film Festival; Enjoy a showing of the film “They Shall Have Music.”

6:30 p.m. Howard Beach Library: Howard Beach Book Discussion; Join in the discussion of The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30

10 a.m. Ridgewood Library: Mother Goose Time; Babies, ages six to 17 months, and their caregivers can come listen to nursery rhymes and songs. Preregistration is required and space is limited; call 718-821-4770.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1

3:30 p.m. Maspeth Library: One World, Many Animals; Children of all ages are invited to meet animals from all over the world in this hands-on adventure. Hedgehogs, bugs, frogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and more will be available for kids to handle under the supervision of program leader Jason Reilly; call 718-639-5228.
