A little over a month since Gray Point Thai at 42-02 Greenpoint Ave. closed, Thai Origin has opened at the same location.
Thai Origin, which is owned by Alex Yimmongkol, held its grand opening on Saturday.
This is Yimmongkol’s first ever restaurant, he said, adding that he has been a chef in similar restaurants for 12 years.
Yimmongkol, who lives in Jackson Heights, said he knows Sunnyside well and has already been well received by residents.
Thai Origin, which does take out and delivery (347-617-1978), offers items such as pad Thai for $7:50, green curry for $7:50; and Chu Chee Crispy Duck for $13.
It offers a $6 lunch special between 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
