Several cats were rescued by firefighters from a burning home in Ozone Park during a two-alarm blaze last Saturday morning, Dec. 31, 2011, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the flames ignited at around 8 a.m. inside a three-story home on 105th Street near 107th Avenue and spread to an adjacent residence. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 285, 308, 294, 293, 331, 225, 236 and 302; Ladder companies 142, 143, 107, 173, 155 and 126; Squad Co. 270; Rescue 4 and Battalions 51, 39, 50 and 44-under the direction of Division 13-along with the 106th Precinct and EMS units. Five firefighters and a female resident were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Five hose lines were used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, an FDNY source said.
