CORONA — Police said a Corona apartment was the scene of a violent heist attempt Dec. 8, when a young woman apparently tried to set up her drug dealer.
Laura Stangenberg, of 18-10 21st St. in Astoria, told police she plotted with three men, who have not been apprehended, to rob Akiva Nimberger at his apartment on 43rd Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.
Nimberger, who was 19 at the time, was inside his apartment around midnight with Robert Terry and a 16-year-old girl when Stangenberg, 21, drove around the neighborhood with her accomplices, according to the complaint. She told police she pretended to go inside for a deal and left the door open behind her.
“I got to the car and told Jason the people inside were soft and on drugs and they should probably go easy on them,” she confessed to police, according to the complaint.
About two minutes later, two masked men entered the apartment, punched Nimberger and slammed him into a wall and knocked Terry unconscious, the complaint said. When Terry awoke, the two assailants were gone, and he and Nimberger went to the roof where they could see the 16-year old girl laying on the ground below, the complaint said.
She suffered a number of injuries after apparently jumping off the roof and was in stable but critical condition at a local hospital at the time the complaint was filed.
Stangenberg was arrested and arraigned on assault, attempted robbery and endangering the welfare of a child charges. Later that day, police searched Nimberger’s residence, at 51-47 Simonson St., where they found ketamine, cocaine, ecstasy, mushrooms, opium and more than $4,000 cash. He was arrested and arraigned on multiple charges of possessing a controlled substance.
