Gunned Down During Dispute: Cops
What started as an argument between two men inside the living room of a Bushwick home last Saturday night, Feb. 4, ended in bloodshed as one of the combatants shot and killed his foe, police said.
Law enforcement sources stated that 40-year-old Sean Edwards was shot in the head during the dispute with an unidentified man at his Jefferson Avenue apartment around 9:13 p.m. last Saturday. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by EMS units.
The perpetrator-described by police as an African-American male standing at 6′-tall and wearing all black clothing-remains at large as of press time.
According to information obtained by police, Edwards was embroiled in a verbal exchange with the suspected shooter inside the living room of his residence on Jefferson Avenue between Central and Wilson avenues. Reportedly, the victim’s girlfriend and her seven-year-old son were at the location at the time.
As the argument intensified, law enforcement sources said, the girlfriend and her child ran into a nearby room. Moments later, it was reported, police were contacted after a pair of shots were heard fired from within the apartment.
Law enforcement sources said the girlfriend exited the room and found Edwards unconscious on the floor with a gunshot wound to his face. The unidentified suspect had fled the scene.
Members of the 83rd Precinct and paramedics responded to the scene. Police conducted a search of the surrounding area for the suspect involved in the shooting. Despite their efforts, it was noted, no immediate arrests were made.
The case has been presented to the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Brooklyn North Homicide Squad for further investigation, police said.
