The victory brought the Maspeth team’s overall record to 6-3 and their PSAA record to 5-2.

MLS took a commanding lead early in the game with a two-run first inning and a two out five-run second inning with Daniel Valentin, Patrick Kelly and Eduardo Mamut having the big bats for the Cougars.

Senior and Captain Kevin Schick pitched a complete game striking out 12 batters and allowing only three earned runs. Bay Ridge kept coming back and by the sixth inning the score was 10-6 with the bases loaded and two outs but Schick struck out the Bay Ridge batter stopping the last threat of the game.

The Cougars are now in second place in the PSAA and making a stretch run for the playoffs.

“It was exciting playing in the stadium as the players really enjoyed themselves taking pictures of the field and warming up before the game,” said Coach John Della Marco. “We have a tough road ahead with all the rain we have seven games in five days but Coach Rob Lowig has the team hitting better but we will need pitching arms this week if we can make a run at the playoffs with two double headers scheduled.”
