Homeless Man Murdered In Woodside
What started as an argument between two homeless friends at a Woodside street corner on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 26, ended in bloodshed when one of the men fatally stabbed the other, law enforcement sources reported.
Police said 28-year-old Ramiro Martinez allegedly killed 37-year-old Enrique Morales Martinez (no relation) during the dispute at the intersection of Woodside Avenue and 69th Street at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to authorities, the two men began arguing for reasons which remain under investigation.
As the exchange turned heated, law enforcement sources said, Ramiro Martinez picked up a sharp object and allegedly plunged it into the neck and shoulder of Enrique Morales Martinez.
The incident was reported to 911, and officers from the 108th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Enrique Martinez was rushed by paramedics to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ramiro Martinez, meanwhile, was taken into custody at the scene by the 108th Precinct Detective Squad for questioning. As a result of the squad’s investigation, he was charged the following day with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Court records noted that the suspect was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday, Aug. 28, and ordered held without bail.
