City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer recently visited the community garden at the Jacob Riis Settlement House in the Queensbridge Houses. As noted, nearly 20 community residents care for the garden, which has become a space where seniors socialize, receive nutritional information and observe food demonstrations. The garden also features intergenerational programming with local seniors which engage over 100 Riis Academy youth. Van Bramer is shown along with Lyndell Williams, a senior participant at the Queensbridge Senior Center, and Bob Madison, director of senior services, on tour of the garden.
