Paul Maringelli manned the drums last Saturday, Aug. 4 for the annual Bix Beiderbecke memorial concert under the Sunnyside Arch, accompanied by David Shenton on the piano, Mark Wade on the bass, Stan Killian on the saxophone and Jordan Sandke on the trumpet. Beiderbecke was a jazz pioneer known for his work on the cornet; he spent his last years living in an apartment in Sunnyside. The concert, founded by Maringelli, was co-sponsored by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District.
