A building on Bell Boulevard once declared unsafe and in danger of collapse has reopened after its owners rectified its structural flaws, the city Department of Buildings said.

According to the DOB, the owners of Rani Salon & Nail Spa, at 41-17 Bell Blvd., have fixed cracked beams and walls within the building, reinforcing the structure and allowing the department to remove a vacate order on the property. The building reopened for business after the vacate order was removed Sept. 19.

Last week, the DOB declared the building unsafe because of two cracks in its walls and shaky beams in its basement. The city placed a full vacate order on the property and the Long Island Rail Road closed one commuter staircase next to the building to ensure the safety of its riders, a LIRR spokesman said.

The LIRR said the stairway would reopen once outside repairs were finished alongside Rani’s building so commuters using the stairs would not fall victim to any loose bricks or materials.
