Young Israel of Sunnyside, located on 43rd Avenue (46th Street), hosted a Chanukah Party earlier this month.
The event featured arts ‘n crafts projects, kid-friendly videos and fresh-off-the-pan potato latkes.
Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer visited and spoke briefly, relaying his holiday greetings.
The members of the synagogue auctioned off goods and services to raise money for the victims of Superstorm Sandy.
Rabbi Nesanel Lerman said that the proceeds would be used to fund Chanukah presents/toys for young victims of the storm. The auction was led by Mr. Ben Lerea and brought in over $1300; an additional $450 in toys and funds were also donated.
