The police are calling on the public to help identify two men who are believed to be involved in the murder of a man on 43rd Avenue last October.
Lou Rispoli, a long-time Woodside resident, was murdered on Oct. 20 when he was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object by three suspects at around 2:00 am at the corner of 41st Street and 43rd Ave.
Rispoli, who suffered from serious head damage that Saturday morning, was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital where he later died on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012.
After three months without any information, many residents and officials began to fear that the brutal attack would go unsolved. However, in recent days the police department have been putting together some sketches.
“I’ve been monitoring developments in this case and it’s good to know that there is movement in the investigation,” said Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer. “I hope this is the break we have been looking for.”
Mark Horn, who has acted as a spokesman for the Rispoli family since the murder, said: “I’m very relieved that it [the investigation] hasn’t gone to the cold case file.”
“I don’t know how they got these sketches but it’s a good thing and I hope they get these people off the street,” Horn said. Unfortunately, he added, “Nothing will bring back Lou.”
