JACKSON HEIGHTS — A 19-year-old Bronx man was arrested and charged with murder in the January slaying of a Flushing teacher on 91st Street, police said, the second arrest in the case in as many days.
Elijah Agyepong was charged with first-degree murder one day after police arrested 20-year-old Cecil Golden, also from the Bronx, on charges of first-degree murder and criminal possession of stolen property.
Golden allegedly entered the apartment of 53-year-old David Rangel, at 91st Street and 32nd Avenue in Jackson Heights, and killed him Jan. 27, the DA said.
A spokeswoman for the DA said Agyepong had not been arraigned as of 2:45 p.m., so it was not yet known what his role in the homicide was alleged to be by the authorities.
The medical examiner determined that Rangel had died of compression of the neck and torso.
Rangel was originally from Monterrey, Mexico. He taught Spanish to seventh- and eighth-graders at PS/MS 219, at 144-39 Gravett Road in Flushing.
