Mother’s Day brunch and dining specials in Queens

Mother’s Day is this Sunday (May 12) and a variety of Queens restaurants have brunch and dinner specials.

Austin’s Steak & Ale House, located at 82-70 Austin Street in Kew Gardens, will be offering a unique dinner menu beginning at 4 p.m. on Mother’s Day. All entrees will be served with fingerling potatoes and vegetable du jour, and these special dishes include crabmeat crusted salmon, beef wellington, and roasted leg of lamb with rosemary. Being a popular destination, Austin recommends making a reservation on their website, and the dinner will last until closing time at 11 p.m.

Bourbon Street, located at 40-12 Bell Boulevard in Bayside, will be offering three different brunch menus on Mother’s Day. For $19.95, you can have red velvet pancakes or Captain Crunch French Toast. For $20.95, choose from a Southern Breakfast Bowl; eggs scrambled with homemade salsa, fresh peppers, andouille sausage & cheddar cheese; broccoli, cheddar, & mushroom omelet; three cheese omelet; traditional Cobb salad; southern fried chicken & biscuit; eggs Benedict or corned beef & hash. For $21.95, choose from crab cakes Oscar Benedict; Steak sandwich; Asian noodle salad with scallops, sweet peppers, snow peas, cashews, & sesame vinaigrette or steak & scrambled eggs. All options come with a complimentary bloody mary, mimosa or screwdriver in addition to coffee, tea, fresh fruit, mini muffins, bagels and coffee cake. Cavo, located at 42-18 31st Avenue in Astoria, will have a special Mother’s Day menu, for $49 per person. Each guest will be served a traditional Greek salad with their meal. For appetizers, chose from lobster bisque or shrimp phyllo. For an entree, choose from pan seared black bass; roasted half chicken; ravioli or petit filet mignon. Danny Brown Wine Bar and Kitchenlocated at 104-02 Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills, is featuring a brunch prix-fixe menu on Mother’s Day from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and its standard dinner menu will be offered from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in addition to a few Mother’s Day specials. Its Mother’s Day brunch menu includes grilled french ham & Emmentaler Swiss cheese on sourdough bread, and smoked salmon with grilled sourdough toast, red leaf lettuce & citrus crème fraîche. Reservations are required and can be made on the restaurant’s website.

Dee’sa pizzeria, located at 107-23 Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills, is offering a special three-course prix-fixe menu this Mother’s Day, featuring dishes such as Dee’s lasagna of Bolognese and three cheeses, chicken parmesan with linguini with garlic & oil, and grilled teriyaki skirt steak with pan Asian vegetables and french fries. The full meal is $32.99 per person, and a $15 Kids Menu for children 12 years old and younger is available as well. Early reservations are highly recommended. Reservations can be made online.

Testaccio, located at 47-30 Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City, is a Michelin Guide Award-winning Roman/Italian restaurant offering both brunch and dinner specials this Mother’s Day. This menu includes specialties such as the scallop carpaccio, which consists of thinly sliced scallops, yellow tomato, and roma tomatoes with arugula tossed with citrus vinaigrette, and pignolata, which is tiny rolled doughs, fried and served with caramelized honey and orange glaze with mascarpone zambaglione cream. Have brunch while looking at the Manhattan Skyline at Water’s Edge, located at 401 44th Drive in Long Island City. For $60 a person, enjoy unlimited brunch beverages including coffee and tea. Food options include a hot buffet, omelet station, meat carving and salad stations. Entrees include fusili primavera, roasted chicken breast, haricot verts with toasted almonds, salmon with sweet corn broth and roasted fingerlings.
