City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and Parks Department representatives toured the new design of Torsney Playground in Sunnyside last Thursday, May 16. As noted, Van Bramer provided funding for renovations to the park, which include the creation of a formalized dog run and improvements of existing asphalt with separate areas for a softball/baseball field and volleyball and basketball courts. The park will also include new planting beds with flowers. The $1.4 million project was funded through allocations by Van Bramer and Queens Borough President Helen Marshall. According to Van Bramer, the improvements at Torsney Playground are moving ahead of schedule, and the entire park could be reopened in June.
