A 65-year-old Elmhurst man was found dead in his home Thursday with bruises on his neck, the NYPD said Friday.
Around 11:44 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a 911 call about an unconscious person, later identified as Andrew Gregar, inside a dwelling near 88th Street and 45th Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Gregar unconscious and unresponsive with bruises on his neck. EMS also responded and pronounced the victim dead on arrival, the Police Department.
Police said the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation was ongoing, police said.
A spokesman for the NYPD said Friday police have not yet determined if Gregar’s death was thought to be suspicious.
