Eighth-graders at P.S./I.S. 119 who demonstrated excellence in academics, service and other qualities were installed as members of the National Junior Honors Society during a ceremony at the Glendale school last Friday, Jan. 10. During the ceremony, candles were lit representing the six characteristics for which the society stands: knowledge, scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. Principal Jeanne Fagan along with Assistant Principals Frederick Baumann and Tina Mavrikos-Kual presented blue and white chords to each of the inductees. The inductees are shown with school administators as well as City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley and State Sen. Joseph Addabbo, who participated in the ceremony.
