A 31-year-old Long Island man was killed around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday when his Ford van struck a flatbed truck on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, police said.

Officers pronounced Andrew Ingordo, of Suffolk County, dead at the scene of the crash.

Police said the truck driver pulled onto the shoulder of the westbound Long Island Expressway near the Little Neck Parkway to avoid hitting traffic ahead of him. At that point, Andrew Ingordo collided with the rear of the flatbed truck.

Police said the driver of the truck stayed at the scene of the accident to assist with authorities’ investigation.

A woman who answered the phone at Ingordo’s home in the town of Riverhead said she was not ready to discuss the death.

“We’re all in deep grief right now,” she said.
